Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirementsPrepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring toolsMeasure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materialsPrepare tenders and quotationsBuild foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systemsFit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardwareSchedule and co-ordinate work on sitesInstruct apprenticesSupervise other workersEstimate costs and materials
